The Real Downton Abbey

With a rich history dating back for centuries, Highclere Castle has a multi-faceted heritage. Built in the Jacobean style by the architect Charles Barry, with a park designed by Capability Brown, the 5000 acre estate is the country seat of the Earl of Carnarvon. Today of course the castle is best known as the setting for the award winning drama ‘Downton Abbey’. Join us as we relive every scene from the series and the movie. Glide down the grand oak staircase, sit at Jackdaws Castle where Lady Edith so often found herself and take in the state dining room where many of the Dowager Countess’ wonderfully acerbic lines were delivered by Dame Maggie Smith.
